Video Production Upskilling

Don’t you love being inspired by colleagues? Lisa Wade-Conley is an instructional designer on my team who is super creative AND funny. For a recent project we are both on, she made a video tutorial about ‘Return Mail’ procedures into a cute animation involving an Elvis-inspired love story.

When I downloaded her source file and picked the video apart in Camtasia, I had to approach her and ask “HOW did you do this?!” And luckily, Lisa was gracious enough to talk me through it.

Her work inspired me to dig a little deeper into more advanced Camtasia features, so I went ahead and completed Corbin Anderson’s LinkedIn Learning course. I look for courses with practice files, because I like to have the application open and follow along with the lessons by recreating their work.

It’s like Bob Ross, but for software.

Anyways, this week I learned how to smooth out a cursor jump, make a background image spin in trippy circles, and customize masks in Camtasia. Video production skills always come in handy, so this was a good week for professional growth.
