The NovoEd Course

I’m currently enrolled in the NovoEd course ‘Learning Experience Design: From Ideas to Impact.’

The timing was perfect because my company is transitioning our digital classrooms to the NovoEd platform this year. Taking the LXD course was a chance to experience NovoEd from the learner’s perspective.

My biggest takeaway thus far has been the potential for collaborative learning. Creating opportunities for social interactions isn’t forced at all. Instead, it’s organically woven into the flow of the lessons. As I’m completing tasks, I can view other’s learner's’ work and contribute to discussion boards.

One other feature I am really enjoying is the variety of performance-based tasks available. For each assessment, learners can upload an audio clip, video, or text-based response. It allows them to practice skills authentically. I see SO MANY different applications for this.

For example, if learners are preparing to answer client phone calls, they can upload an audio clip of them practicing a phone interaction. If they are practicing writing marketing emails, learners can submit sample text. If managers are rehearsing navigating difficult conversations, they could upload a video of how they would start the discussion.

All in all, it’s a great offering and it’s FREE! There are also lots of useful templates they provide. The course is definitely worth your time.
