Home Office Desk Accessories
With a home office, you can customize the space and equipment to your exact liking. For me, that means tech accessories that make work smoother.
Some of these were provided by my employer, but some I purchased due to personal preference.
Lenovo ThinkVision T24i-30 Monitors - Two of these frame the cockpit, aka my work station. Around a 24 inch screen works for me, any bigger and I’d be turning my head.
Jabra Evolve2 75 Headset- This headset is the newest addition to my home office and I am IN LOVE. The noise cancelling setting is incredible, and they are so comfortable and include a noise cancelling microphone as well which is great for conference calls.
Logitech K120 keyboard - I love a clacky clacky keyboard with a more tactile experience. This is the most basic corded keyboard and I never want to upgrade.
Logitech MX Master 2S Wireless Mouse - I like that I can switch back and forth between my work computer (a ThinkPad laptop) and my MacBook with the click of a button. Also, this mouse is freakishly comfortable.
Logitech C920s Webcam - Mostly I like this gadget for the webcam shutter. The quality difference between this and my laptop webcam is very noticeable.
Gaming Fifine USB Microphone - I use this for recording eLearning/video audio. The pop filter is great. I have the Blue Yeti microphone too, but the Fifine device is easier to work with, in my opinion, because it doesn’t pick up as much background noise.
HP Speaker Bar - This used to connect to my HP monitors, but now that I have Lenovo monitors, I used sticky velcro to attach it to a monitor base.
ThinkPad Docking Station - All of these accessories get plugged into one single source which then connects to my Thinkpad developer laptop. It’s like magic!
And that’s my work station in a nutshell. One more reason remote work is the best arrangement for me: I wouldn’t want to leave all this hanging around a public cubicle, or have to haul equipment back and forth in a hybrid situation.
