Want to learn about instructional design without spending a ton of money? Check out your local library!
This post is for transitioning teachers, early career instructional designers, or those looking to upskill in their L&D field.
My county library system has multiple “Instructional Design for Dummies” books, books on brain science, performance consulting, and visual design guides like “The Non-Designer’s Design Book.”
It does NOT have any ID specific books by authors such as Julie Dirksen, Tim Slade, Michael Allen, or Cathy Moore.
Many libraries also include free LinkedIn Learning passes which will give you access to video courses on specific eLearning tools such as Camtasia or Articulate.
Libraries are a great place to start if you are looking to learn on a budget. Have you discovered any surprising finds at your local library?
