Tinkering in Twine

When developing a concept in Twine for fun, I thought I’d lean into an aspect of my personal life. My nomadic, vagabond self has been to 45+ countries. I add the + because at some point I lost count. Living and working abroad for most of my 20s meant easily skipping over to a new country for a long weekend.

That part of my life came to a screeching halt in 2020.

In 2020, I won a personal enrichment grant to go to Italy and take cooking classes. That trip was cancelled, obviously. My partner and I were supposed to spend New Year’s Eve of 2021 in Scotland, and that was canceled as well (thanks, Omicron).

In a few short weeks, we are going to attempt spring break in Belize with a couple days on the island of Caye Caulker and a couple days in the jungle. Will it work out? Will a new variant dash our hopes before we step foot on the plane?

This trip means a lot because my partner and I met at a backpacker’s hostel in Madrid in 2007. Traveling is a HUGE part of our lives and to have that taken away from us has been soul crushing.

Run this little game I built if you want to know where you should travel next. This was a quick and easy branching scenario with 27 potential outcomes that I developed in Twine. Here is the game link.
