LMS and LXP Platforms
I’ve used a wide variety of learning platforms and I’m going to make a bold statement…
While I have preferences, I don’t think the platform matters that much. The learning experience we design matters way more.
For an LMS, I’ve used SAP Success Factors, Cornerstone, and Workday. For an LXP I’ve used NovoEd and Degreed.
Yes they have different features, like some make it easier to embed objects, or have better reporting and analytics, etc. And yes, I have opinions about which has an easier user experience or more intuitive navigation.
But ultimately, we can design learning in a Word doc if we need to.
I’m convinced you could put me in front of any learning platform and I’d be fluent by the end of day (if their documentation is robust enough).
Ultimately, comfort with a specific LMS/LXP is not as important as instructional design skills like performance consulting and needs analysis. Do you agree?
