Visual Framework for Credentials

To create consistent credentials that mean something to your audience, your program needs a defined visual framework.

Consider the appearance of the credentials and how they might vary based on the associated learning experience.

🎨 Colors – These can vary based on the level of difficulty.

🔰 Shapes – This might be different depending on the format of the learning experience, for example badges for courses, trophies for exams, or certificates for workshops.

🎓 Types – Are these completion badges, or do they represent a role, skill, or qualification? You can have some text fields directly on the design.

You don’t have to visually design credentials alone. I consulted with my company’s marketing and creative services team and they provided the templates that I uploaded to the credentialing platform.

Accredible has been offering a series of credentialing playbook webinars, and design trust is one of the major themes. I highly recommend their presentations!

In a nutshell: a behind-the-scenes coherent system will encourage learners to claim and share credentials because they look more legitimate.
