When AI is Useful (and Not)

Here are some ways I am using AI in my day-to-day life and one way I am not.

✅ I prompted Claude to craft my new branding guidelines and design the matching WordPress template and LinkedIn visuals. This was worth the splurge for a month’s access to Claude Pro. It took a couple days of back-and-forth in the tool but this was well worth the money as my own designs looked pedestrian in comparison.

✅ When I post animals for my local shelter, I use ChatGPT to make the posts more attention-grabbing. I had a recent post go viral-ish (over 700 shares) where I provided the hook and outlined the information, and ChatGPT came up with a tearjerker.

✅ ChatGPT creates variations and levels of home workouts that I can do with my dumbbells and bench press. I’ve got a list of 12 basic compound exercises I know I want to cover weekly, and I let ChatGPT give me ideas of how to slowly build up to more weights or difficulty.

❌ I am NOT using AI to write my own LinkedIn posts. I like to take a pass myself, possibly ask Copilot for feedback on specific phrasing, but overall I just don’t like AI written text. I tested out a Copilot-written post a few months ago just to see what would happen and this post had the one of the lowest engagement rates of the entire year! I think my audience knows and appreciates my voice.

AI is good for some things, not so much for others.
