Why I Like Program Management

Wondering if program management would be a good fit for your skillset and strengths?

Here are just a few things I like about the field:

I build deep knowledge of an area. I enjoy getting to specialize and lean in to a niche. I become an expert on the topic of the programs I manage.
I own results. My program is my responsibility. I communicate metrics and report on the program success so I know exactly what we are measuring and what good looks like.
I lead initiatives without being a people manager. I do not do performance reviews, approve time off, or facilitate compensation conversations. The people working on my programs have their own people managers.

Overall, program managers get stuff done. We execute. I like having a tangible thing I built or ran to be proud of. I hope my posts over the last few weeks have provided an insight into the field!
