Articulate in the Wild

I like seeing Articulate Rise and Storyline “in the wild” so I can see real world examples of the tool in action. It’s interesting to me how other organizations use the features, set up their player, and build interactions.

Recently I came across Articulate tools in two different places:

  1. Animal Shelter – As part of my Fear Free training so I could level up and work with dogs that need special handling, the shelter required me to complete eLearning built in Storyline. It was straightforward voiceover on top of a slide deck with locked navigation. While quite lengthy, I did appreciate the transcripts so I could independently review the material in a written format. Each module had a quiz you have to pass before moving on.
  2. Scaled Agile – All of Scaled Agile’s on-demand content is built in Rise, and it was interesting to see how they used a tabbed interaction for video content. One tab had the video, another had the transcript. I prefer to put transcripts in an accordion under the video so you can view both simultaneously. This was also a good representation of change management – they had gone back and added disclaimers where some of the terminology changed without updating every single video.

My favorite eLearning platform is within Codecademy but I’m pretty sure that is their own proprietary tool. That’s the level we should all be aspiring to.

Have you come across familiar tools in your own upskilling?
