Credentialing Program Engagement

For credentialing program managers out there, how do you boost engagement?

Some credentials have high rates of engagement and some just don’t gain traction. I’ve learned a couple lessons over the last few years I thought I would share.

  1. Set up an email campaign. Learners might not be familiar with the credentialing platform and could overlook the first notification. Send out communications a couple of weeks later as well, at a minimum. Your platform should let you schedule emails for learners who have not opened their credential yet.
  2. Consider the types of learning experiences for which you issue credentials. Learners generally engage more with credentials if there is more rigor or validation involved. A learning program, or pathway with an exam, will see higher share and view rates than simple course completions.
  3. Name your credentials in a digestible manner. Learners like simple badges that will be understood on LinkedIn. I’ve found that some of our more complex and technical courses don’t see as much engagement as broader and more recognizable titles such as leadership or engineering.
  4. Take the time to analyze your metrics dashboard. Your credentialing platform should harness plenty of data for you, so you should use it! At least quarterly, download that information or export it to PowerBI and do a deep dive: what are the trends or patterns? What could you tweak or improve?

I hope this tips help you grow and scale your credentialing platform in the industry!
