Since I began leading the credentialing program at CSG, I’ve learned there is a lot of nuance. A certification is NOT the same as a certificate.
In a nutshell, credentials are the broader category. Here are some examples to further highlight the differences between badges, certificates, and certifications:

My dog Sirius has earned many credentials from the groomer, obedience school, and doggy day care for his “Good Boy” energy.

Sirius received a completion certificate when he finished his group obedience classes at the pet store.

Sirius could be a certified service dog if only he’d stop barking at strangers, lunging on his leash, and biting large men.
