One of my professional goals for 2022 was to increase my skill level with eLearning authoring tools. Entering a public challenge where I was going to get feedback from my peers was a great way to work towards this goal.
Sometimes I complete these right away in time to get featured in the recap, but sometimes I stumble on them a week or two late and and am feeling inspired so I still enter them anyways.
These are some of my favorite recent entries:
-
ELH #366 π» Blurred Backgrounds in E-Learning Course Design
-
Got a bit literal with this one by getting blurry with Blur (sound on!). I used a slider to trigger the blurred background and audio. View my submission here.
-
-
ELH #367 π» Using Hints to Guide and Challenge Learners
-
It was Friday and lunchtime so I delivered a pizza themed interaction that week. Take it cheesy with a little pizza quiz! View my submission here.
-
-
ELH#371 π» Using Labeled Graphics to Create Interactive Pictures in E-Learning
-
This is an interactive infographic on the topic of graphic design principles. Markers make the visual interactive. View my submission here.

ELH #376 π» Creating E-Learning Templates from Vector Graphics
-
An overview of my international travels with my partner since 2007. I used a vector set from Adobe Stock Images and then manipulated the images in Adobe Illustrator. View my submission here.

These seemingly silly challenges may appear to be only fun and games, but Iβve been bringing these skills back to my day job. Iβve been developing a lot of digital learning experiences on the NovoEd platform recently, but when I need a special interaction that they donβt offer, I build it in Storyline and embed the SCORM package directly on the page. So the ELH Challenges have turned out to be quite practical.
